Database Integration via usjournal.com

usjournal.com is an excellent source for initial inquiries of students who want to study in the USA. We also help our advertisers integrate those inquiries into their own databases for better follow-up and enhanced effectiveness, which ultimately leads to higher returns on investment.

We're most willing to work with any advertiser's current database system. Here are a few examples:

  • Individual Inquiries: A simple, text-only eMail message is sent to an advertiser's eMail address within a few minutes after a student expresses interest in that particular advertiser's academic program. Increasingly, our advertisers are forwarding those messages to colleagues who can most effectively respond in a personal manner; for example, inquiries from native Japanese speakers are forwarded to that advertiser's agent in Tokyo for prompt follow-up.

  • Copies of Individual Inquiries: An additional copy of the eMail inquiry may be sent to another eAddress, at which time the student's data is automatically integrated into an advertiser's central database, such as Versation's Prospector system.

  • Excel Reports: We provide a comprehensive Excel Report (weekly, monthly or quarterly) which compiles all student data for a particular advertiser, from the specified time frame. Excel Reports are easily cut and pasted into any number of central database programs.

  • Batch Uploads: Our Excel Reports are formatted for easy (and automatic) uploading into central databases. We can even separate student data (into different Excel Reports) that contain non-Western characters, which is precisely what we're doing with Hobson's EMT system.

Measuring Return on Investment: Richard Yam of the University of Massachusetts - Amherst has proposed a NAFSA session about ROI in International Student Recruitment. If you would like to contribute to the discussion of this elusive topic, contact him directly: ryam@ipo.umass.edu.
