The USC Language Academy is the Intensive English Program at the University of Southern California. Located in the heart of Los Angeles, the USC Language Academy offers high-quality, year-round English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction for academic and professional preparation, as well as everyday use. The Academy helps students rapidly improve their English skills through a rigorous program of study, campus involvement, and cultural and educational activities. Students enjoy full access to USC's beautiful 226-acre campus and facilities, including libraries, computer labs, dining options, fitness center, and year-round campus housing.
Being a student at the USC Language Academy is one of the best experiences of my academic life. Every minute I spent here has taught me something new. Academics at the USC Language Academy
At the USC Language Academy, we focus on helping you learn academic and practical English through a combination of dynamic, student-centered courses, interactive language labs, and a variety of activities and opportunities to interact with fellow students and locals. The Academy offers seven academic levels of instruction, from foundations to advanced. Each level has three core courses: reading and writing, oral skills, and grammar. In addition, students choose electives and language labs.
Attending the USC Language Academy has been very helpful for my professional life. The Academy teaches us English in different fields from basic skills like grammar and writing, to business English, which is connected to my major. The Language Academy is a gate between my home city, Paris, and the City of Angels. I have discovered so many things. How to Apply

It is easy to apply to the USC Language Academy. There is no specific deadline to apply, however we recommend that you apply three months prior to your intended program start date. Just follow these simple steps and contact us if you have any questions: langacad@usc.edu
1. Complete the online or paper application
a. Online: usc.edu/langacad/app
b. On paper: usc.edu/langacad/application_steps
2. Include your bank statement
a. Bank statement in your name
b. Bank statement plus Letter of Support from your sponsor, if the bank statement is not in your name
3. Pay US$150 application fee
4. Submit your application, and you will receive information from the Academy within a few business days

The USC Language Academy offers you a full-service intensive English program. Total program fees include:
- Full-time instruction (21 hours per week)
- Textbooks and course materials
- Use of USC Student Health Center with USC staff clinicians
- Health insurance, tuberculosis screening and treatment
- Weekly activities throughout Los Angeles at reduced or no cost
- Access to USC campus and facilities: libraries, computer labs, gym and sports facilities, dining halls and cafes, medical facilities, and more
- Student services: academic advising, immigration advising, USC ID card, email account, orientation program, and closing ceremony
- Airport shuttle van pick-up from LAX to USC campus

The USC Language Academy is pleased to offer year-round campus housing. Living in the USC residential facilities is a great way to complete your American university experience!
I enjoyed life at the USC Language Academy. When I went to America, I couldn't speak English at all, but now I can communicate well with people from many different countries. My favorite experiences were the Academy activities because I was able to see many places around Los Angeles. I also enjoyed living in campus housing at USC. The Academy staff and faculty are here to support you, and ensure that you have a positive and enriching experience at the USC Language Academy. We offer many support services, including academic advising, assistance with campus housing, and immigration advising. In addition, Academy students can participate in weekly activities and events to help them practice English and enjoy their time at USC. Some popular activities include trips to the beach, theme parks, USC sporting events, and museums, as well as Academy events and traditions, like Closing Ceremony and Spring Showcase.
