This District of Columbia possesses a graceful dignity that's captured in its monuments, museums and memorials. Only a handful of cities rival Washington, DC's history and influence, and visits to the Lincoln Memorial, the White House or the Smithsonian leave lifetime impressions, as do somber moments spent at the Arlington National Cemetery, the U.S. Holocaust Museum or the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. While tens of millions of tourists visit the city each year, the Washington Metropolitan Area has a resident population of 5.3 million people.
Given its cosmopolitan atmosphere, the DC metro area offers abundant opportunities for internships and work-study arrangements. Virginia International University is committed to taking full advantage of its proximity for the ultimate benefit of the students it serves.
