A student can study for an academic year (two semesters) for about $15,000 for ESL (English as a Second Language), $23,000 for undergraduate, and $23,000 for a graduate degree. English as Second Language (ESL)

Troy University is home to the EnglishUSA-member English as a Second Language Center, offering exceptionally high quality English language instruction. Our ESL program offers six levels of English instruction on campus, with full privileges as a University student and many additional privileges, such as:

  • ESL Computer Lab
  • Conversation Partners
  • ESL Tutoring Center
  • Opportunity to earn academic credit for ESL classes

ESL classes are in semesters (beginning in August and January) and in five sessions per year (beginning in August, October, January, March, and late May). There is no TOEFL requirement to enter or exit the ESL program. We use the ACT Compass ESL test to place students in ESL classes. Your progress in the program will be based on classroom grades.

Students who are conditionally admitted to Troy University can waive TOEFL / IELTS by passing the ESL placement test upon arrival or by successfully completing the ESL program. This is done by completing the Advanced Level of ESL with a B average in classes. There is no TOEFL / IELTS requirement for students who are in the ESL program.

Campus Life

Troy University has an active campus life, with regular cultural and sporting events. As a student, you attend concerts, shows, and sports for free. You can attend a concert or theater performance one day, and be in the football stadium cheering for our team the next day. The University has many academic and social associations you can join, and many opportunities to gain leadership experience.
