To keep pace with the latest developments in technology and teaching, our curriculum and materials are regularly reviewed and revised, and our instructors receive further training, as necessary. As students near completion of their programs, VIU career counselors help place them in internships and other work-study positions with companies and organizations throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
VIU is fully accredited by the Accrediting Council of Independent Colleges and Schools, a national accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Washington, DC is the capital of the United States, bordered by the states of Virginia and Maryland in the northeastern part of the country. This District of Columbia possesses a graceful dignity that's captured in its monuments, museums and memorials. Only a handful of cities rival Washington, DC's history and influence, and visits to the Lincoln Memorial, the White House or the Smithsonian leave lifetime impressions, as do somber moments spent at the Arlington National Cemetery, the U.S. Holocaust Museum or the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. While tens of millions of tourists visit the city each year, the Washington Metropolitan Area has a resident population of 5.3 million people.
Given its cosmopolitan atmosphere, the DC metro area offers abundant opportunities for internships and work-study arrangements. Virginia International University is committed to taking full advantage of its proximity for the ultimate benefit of the students it serves.
We look forward to welcoming you to Virginia International University! To learn more, review all of our programs and select the ones that interest you. Then complete the inquiry form, and we will respond directly. Otherwise, please visit viu.edu.
