St. Croix High School is a college preparation high school with a reputation for being an excellent value encompassed in an extremely friendly and safe environment. While the academic standards are high, St. Croix supports its students through a full English as a Second Language (ESL) program with a full-time international advisor to assist with the needs of the international students. Because the school enrollment is 400 students, the school is large enough to offer a wide variety of both curricular offerings and after-school activities, and still small enough to allow students a chance to participate in activities of their choice.

Academics at St. Croix High School

St. Croix High School offers a Christian-oriented college prep secondary education program. Core curriculum includes required courses that fulfill college requirements along with a range of electives to meet individual interests. Offerings include advanced placement and accelerated courses along with the latest in computer technology. The curriculum includes intermediate and advanced levels of ESL.

The teachers and staff at St. Croix are dedicated to student achievement; more than two-thirds of them hold advanced degrees in their areas of expertise. In addition to classroom responsibilities, all teachers serve as advisors providing additional academic support to each individual student.

Courses in math, science, English, history, computer science, music, art, advanced placement and accelerated courses are taught in preparation for college entrance; an interactive computer classroom offers courses for university credit. The interpersonal experiences and classes at St. Croix prepare students for universities like Cornell University, Notre Dame, the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), University of Minnesota, Penn State University, Macalaster College, West Point Academy and Marquette University.


St. Croix High School Facilities / Location

The campus is situated on thirty acres overlooking Lake Thompson, five minutes from downtown St. Paul, and twenty minutes from the international airport. The on-campus student residences are fully-equipped with double-room dormitories, a full cafeteria, laundry, computer lab and a professional student life staff. The gymnasium, workout room, music rooms, classrooms and student commons are all just a short walk from each other.

St. Paul is the capital and the second most populous city of the state of Minnesota in the Midwestern region of the United States. The city is noted for its diverse neighborhoods; the city has been called fifteen small towns with one mayor. St. Paul supports a robust network of publicly-funded schools, private schools, as well as colleges and universities. The city's school district is extremely diverse, with students from families speaking 70 different languages.


Extracurricular Activities

All St. Croix students are encouraged to participate in activities outside the classroom. Interscholastic and club athletics include: cross-country, cheerleading, football, soccer, volleyball, hockey, basketball, dance team, wrestling, baseball, swimming, golf, softball, track and field, and tennis. Many students choose to participate in drama, journalism, speech team, jazz band, select singing groups, math competitions, webmasters club, peer listeners, and several leadership groups.


Support for International Students

A full-time International Advisor is on staff at St. Croix High School to support all international students. The coordinator organizes orientation, assists with registration of classes, communicates with international parents, assists with necessary medical needs, arranges home stays for Christmas and Spring Breaks, and helps students with day-to-day needs. Four full-time residence supervisors oversee the dormitories. At least two supervisors are on duty at all times. They also attend to the day-to-day needs of all dorm students.
