More than 600 students from 60 different countries enroll in EPI's various programs annually. EPI has been the intensive English program of choice for students sponsored by:

The University of South Carolina's English Programs for Internationals offers:
- A core intensive English program providing six proficiency levels of instruction year round
- Testing and support courses for university degree-seeking students during fall and spring semesters
- Various special projects, on request, ranging from a five-day Executive English Tutorial to a one-year English for Saudi Economists, all custom-designed programs for a specific student population

Courses Offered at English Programs for Internationals
Intensive English:
- Combination of high-quality instruction with friendly, personalized service
- Appropriate for international students who want to improve their English language skills before entering a U.S. college or university
- Appropriate for individuals who need English skills for professional reasons
- Designed to help international students feel comfortable and succeed in their new environment
- Five terms per year, beginning in January, March, May, August, and October
- Each term is nine weeks long, with 20 hours of supervised English instruction each week
English for Graduate Students:
- An opportunity to improve your written and / or spoken English skills, before the semester begins
- You may enroll for the last four weeks of EPI's Summer Term
- Graduate students may be placed in EPI's top level, and are integrated into the classes
- Teachers provide an orientation to living and studying in the U.S., from the graduate student's perspective
English for Foreign Students:
- All newly admitted graduate students who are non-native speakers of English are required to take an English language proficiency exam administered by EPI before registration
- This exam, consisting of a writing test and an oral interview, is designed to identify those students who need additional work on written and / or spoken English
- The program features comprehensive testing, academic advising, and instruction which assists the university's foreign students who have language-related difficulties
- A student visa cannot be issued for only English for Foreign Students courses
Test Preparation:
- Most U.S. colleges and universities require international students to take the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
- During each term, EPI offers the Institutional TOEFL Exam for an additional fee
- Other tests such as the GMAT, GRE, and SAT are administered throughout the year at USC
- EPI offers preparation classes for TOEFL and GRE exams
- Students are charged a nominal fee for the extra instruction
Special Programs:
- We work with groups to design English language programs tailored for their specific needs, goals, and time frames
- We have expertise in providing training institutes for ESL and EFL teachers
- We have designed and coordinated language and culture programs for groups who want to improve their English by immersing themselves in the culture in ways not provided by our regular programs
- We have worked with academic units at the university and with professional contacts in the community to provide student contact with specific academic and professional disciplines

Conditional Admission
to The University of South Carolina
International students with good high school grades can be conditionally admitted to USC undergraduate degree programs. Transfer students with good university grades can also be conditionally admitted to USC undergraduate degree programs.
When conditionally admitted students successfully complete EPI's highest level (6), they can then be admitted to the University. EPI students do not have to take the TOEFL to be admitted to USC undergraduate degree programs.
