Johnson and Wales University is known as one of the most distinguished institutions of professional preparation in the fields of Culinary Arts, Hospitality, Technology and Business. The University is fully accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, which is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation.
Student Success: Johnson and Wales supports students in their efforts to develop and maximize their talents, empower them to direct their own learning and lead them to pathways of success. Services include academic, personal and career counseling, coordinated study groups, supplemental instruction and workshops.
The Career Development Office offers a variety of work programs to manage career success for both current students and alumni. Programs include an annual Career Conference with more than 250 international and national companies, cooperative education, and placement activities. Johnson and Wales' philosophy emphasizes learning through real-life experiences such as internships and co-ops, in addition to classroom learning. For many years, the University has been building relationships with some of the largest and most respected companies around the world, including Microsoft, Ford, Marriott Hotels, Sony, Disneyland, New York Stock Exchange and others. These types of industry-wide relationships help to make our graduates more desirable candidates when seeking employment.

Academic Programs at Johnson and Wales University
College of Business: Johnson and Wales University was founded in 1914 as a business school. Our students enter the business world with knowledge of modern consumer behavior and the new technology needed to compete in a constantly changing world. We provide students with what businesses need and are looking for in a potential employee. Undergraduate degree programs include:

MBA Degree Programs are offered only at the Providence, Rhode Island campus. Students may pursue an MBA in Global Business with a concentration in either Accounting, Financial Management, International Trade, Marketing, or Organizational Leadership. An MBA in Hospitality Administration is also available, with a concentration in either Event Leadership, Financial Management, or Marketing.
School of Technology: Technology is a broad description for a wide variety of rewarding careers. IT and engineering careers can be combined into just a handful of general categories that range from inventors and creators of technologies to the modifiers and supporters of technologies. The Hospitality College: More than 3,500 hospitality employers have recruited Johnson and Wales graduates, and with good reason. Our students get practical, on-the-job experience at on- and off-campus properties including hotels and restaurants. The professionalism and skills our students possess, well before graduation, are an unmistakable asset to any hospitality career. Undergraduate programs include Food and Beverage Management, Hotel Management, Restaurant Management, Sports / Entertainment / Event Management, and Travel Tourism Management.
College of Culinary Arts: Since 1973, our culinary education has evolved to be the most respected in the world, creating chefs who are leaders in the field. Our International Baking and Pastry Institute was the first of its kind in the world; our unique culinary nutrition program was also the first of its kind to receive accreditation by the American Dietetic Association. Johnson and Wales continues to set the standard for culinary education and excellence.
School of Education: Johnson and Wales offers specialized education degrees at the bachelors, masters, and doctoral levels. Students begin to apply teaching principles learned through course work by working in partnership schools starting in their freshman year. The Teacher Education program of our Center for Education is fully approved for the preparation of secondary school teachers of business education and vocational food service education.
