Highline Community College has earned a reputation for academic excellence and outstanding student services. Located just 20 minutes from the excitement of downtown Seattle, the campus area is surrounded by mountains and lakes perfect for hiking, skiing, and other activities. Highline's beautiful campus offers a spectacular view of the Puget Sound waterway and Olympic Mountains. Seattle is known for popular music, professional sports, and industry leaders such as Microsoft and Starbucks.
Highline Community College is a public, two-year institution that offers the Associate of Arts and the Associate of Science (for university transfer) and Associate of Applied Science (for career training) degrees. Classes taken for the Associate of Arts degree are similar to the first two years of general education courses required at university. Students from Highline have successfully transferred to the University of Washington, Washington State University, Seattle University, New York University, Columbia University, and many others around the country.
Highline's residential setting in the Seattle area makes it an ideal choice for students that want to combine opportunities for cultural and recreational activities with a world-class education. Currently, more than 10,000 students (including 200 international students) study at Highline.

Students who are interested in transferring to university to complete their Bachelor's Degree start their education at Highline. Students complete an Associate of Arts degree or Associate of Science degree, and the Highline staff helps make the transfer and transition to a four-year university as smooth as possible. Highline offers a wide variety of majors for university transfer:

Professional and Technical Programs at Highline lead to Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degrees or Certificates of Completion. Students who earn an AAS degree can work in the U.S. for one year after completing their program. Highline students have been hired by respected companies such as Alaska Airlines, Nintendo, Disney, The Hilton Hotel, the Port of Seattle and many others.

Intensive English for College Preparation

Kaplan English Programs provides English as a Second Language (ESL) training on the Highline campus to prepare students for college. Students who complete the Intermediate level at Kaplan can transfer to Highline with no TOEFL. Our Bridge Program allows students to take courses at Highline and Kaplan so they can start college while continuing to improve their English skills.

Highline Community College offers competitive scholarships to current qualified international students for Fall, Winter and Spring:
- ISP Scholarship: $1000 tuition reduction for one quarter
- Leadership Recognition Scholarship: $1000 tuition reduction for one quarter
- Academic Scholarship: $1000 to $2000 tuition reduction for one quarter
- Highline Honors Scholarship: All international students who complete the Highline Honors Scholar program will receive a tuition reduction up to $1000 for their final quarter at Highline.
- Homestay: Our local agencies arrange for students to experience American daily life by living with a family
- Dormitory: Students can live in our dormitory, which is located just five minutes from campus
- Apartment: Students are welcome to find their own apartment to live alone or with friends
Highline students enjoy an active campus life through clubs, fun activities, or just hanging out with friends. International student leaders plan events, parties, trips, and other activities to make it easy to build friendships. Our Conversation Pal program helps international students meet American students on campus and chat for one hour each week. Clubs and organizations offer a comfortable atmosphere for students to meet others, have fun and gain leadership skills. Whether you're interested in anime, math, Vietnamese culture or political affairs, there's a club for you!
