International students must demonstrate a certain level of financial commitment in order to be admitted to Calvin College. Paying for college is an important investment in your future. Calvin is committed to partner with students and your families to help clarify how you will pay for your college education, though Calvin has limited grants and scholarships to assist international students.

Grants and Scholarships: Calvin provides generous financial aid to qualified international students, but college assistance will cover only a portion of your educational and personal costs; US$ 34,300. is the amount required on Calvin's I-20 Student Visa Application. Transcripts, standardized test scores, and admissions essays are used for scholarship consideration.

On-campus Jobs: International students are expected to work on-campus while at Calvin, and these wages are also factored in to Calvin's potential funding of the student's education. Students can earn $2,000 to $3,500 working on campus for 10 to 15 hours per week during the school year and full-time during the summer. Students granted an F-1 Visa may work up to 20 hours per week on campus during the school year and full-time during vacation periods.

Each student is required to contribute a significant portion of their college costs through their own resources, sponsors or outside scholarships. There are no full-tuition grants or scholarships at Calvin College.

Location: Grand Rapids, Michigan

Grand Rapids is Michigan's second largest city, located three hours (by car) away from Chicago and Detroit. A thirty-minute drive west takes you to Lake Michigan, the largest fresh water lake in the USA. The city itself has a population of approximately 200,000, but the surrounding urban area is home to about 600,000 residents.

Calvin College, Michigan

Grand Rapids combines urban sophistication with the small-town warmth of the mid-western United States. The city features more than 75 hotels, restaurants, museums, and sports and entertainment venues within a five-minute walk of each other. Yet it's also a region of abundant natural wonders, where visitors and residents enjoy outdoor recreation year-round.

Grand Rapids is named after the river that runs through the heart of the city. There are no longer any rapids to be found in the Grand River as it winds its way through downtown – but there are plenty of fishermen casting for trout, salmon and steelhead amidst the vibrant energy of our city streets. Wherever you travel in Grand Rapids, you're never more than six miles away from a body of water. Biking, hiking and running trails crisscross the region, passing from skyscraper canyons through forests and wetlands.
