Admissions Details at Boise State University
To apply to Boise State University, applicants must provide the following materials. The deadline for materials to be received is 1 June for fall semester, and 15 October for spring semester.
- Completed International Student Undergraduate or Graduate Application
- Financial Statement for International Students
- Statement of Financial Support
- Certified copies of official records of each secondary or middle school, college or university, and / or professional and technical school attended
- Official TOEFL scores. Undergraduate admission requires a score of 500 (paper-based test) or 173 (computer-based test); graduate admission requires a score of 587 (paper-based test) / 240 (computer-based test). Note that some graduate programs have additional application requirements (for example, GMAT scores, letters of recommendation, etc.)
- $30 Application Fee
Conditional Admission: Students who have been enrolled for at least one eight-week session in Boise State's Intensive English Program (IEP), and have a TOEFL score above 450(PBT) / 133(CBT), may qualify for conditional admission. Based on recommendation by the IEP staff, students may enroll in up to seven credit hours of courses while continuing to study part-time in the IEP.

Intensive English Program: Boise State University offers an excellent Intensive English Program. The program is offered in two eight-week sessions during each spring and fall term, and two four-week sessions during summer. Students are placed in courses at their proficiency level, where they learn in a safe and confidence-building environment. Classes are adjusted each session according to student needs and interests, and emphasize student participation and interaction. IEP features include:
- Small class size (12 or fewer students)
- Professionally-trained instructors with experience living and teaching abroad
- 20 to 23 class hours each week, focusing on academic reading, writing, speaking and listening skills
- Practical language use skills in an American cultural context
- Study strategies for academic success
- TOEFL preparation, using both text-based and software materials
- Computer and internet facilities
- Culturally-oriented field trips throughout the community, state and region
- Opportunities for additional conversation partnerships and social activities
- Advising, counseling and other student support services
- Access to on-campus housing and on-campus student employment (subject to F-1 visa regulations)
- Full inclusion as members of our campus community
